(17:45) Rehabilitation of polluted Kishon River gets underway

The rehabilitation of the Kishon - described as one of the most polluted rivers in the world - will begin in practice tomorrow, according to Environment Minister Tzahi Hanegbi.

From tomorrow, any factories allowing untreated toxic waste to flow into the Kishon will be liable to investigation by the Environment Ministry's "Green Police" and would face prosecution, Hanegbi said.

He made the comments during a tour of the area today, which included visiting the Haifa Bay chemical plants and other factories which have been primarily responsible for contaminating the Kishon.

The pollution of today is child's play compared to the pollution cast in the Kishon by Elijah. Ahab, King of Israel with his eternally infamous wife Jezebel built a false substitute Temple in Samaria. It was really Ahab's father Omri who started the initial construction, but it was Ahab and Jezebel who intended to promote it to world attention. God called it a house of Baal as it truthfully was. Ahab intended to show the God of Israel, and the Baal of his Zidonian wife could peacefully dwell together. A generic god of love who could tolerate all other gods in peace and harmony. A god of true religious freedom. God sent Elijah to confront such lies. God polluted the Kishon with the bodies of the Baal priests causing more filth then all the Hiafa Bay Chemical Plants could ever excrete. The world was offended that the God of the Bible would cause such destruction of this desired peace plan.

This year may be the year of another Baal peace for Israel. The year is starting just the opposite, but may well end with a false Baal peace forced on everyone with the War on Terrorism success? God will send another Elijah to confront the lie. Another one or even two like John the Baptist clothed in sackcloth. Impossible for any to wean into their denomination. Impossible for visions of TV fame and fortune to have any sway.

PRO-PLO FORCES TAKE REVENGE AT UN

Palestinian allies at the United Nations used the convening of a special session of the General Assembly on Thursday to get back at the United States for vetoing an anti-Israel resolution in the Security Council last weekend.

The special UNGA meeting adopted by an overwhelming majority - 124 votes to 6, with 25 abstentions - a resolution calling for the deployment of an international presence to monitor the on-going conflict between Israel and the Palestinians. The move came just days after the US used its veto power to block a similar measure in the Security Council, whose decisions have binding authority that the General Assembly resolutions lack.

The resolution also demanded that all violence, provocation and destruction of property stop, and expressed support for the Palestinian Authority, saying it "remains the indispensable and legitimate party for peace and needs to be preserved fully."

This latter provision came in answer to Israel's recent declaration that PLO chief Yasser Arafat is "irrelevant" and a series of IDF raids targeting PA security buildings.
 

Israel has a most effective practice of bulldozing the homes of the murderers of Jewish children by suicide bombing. As the celebrations for the false martyrs are going on, and bounty money for maimed and murdered Jewish children is being presented to the bomber's family; the IDF spoils the festivities and congratulations by bulldozing the house of the assassin. The UN wants to stop this practice with this resolution aimed directly at bulldozing the bomber's homes. The UN depends on the ignorance, and anti-Semitic attitudes of the world population to make these type resolutions. The peace keepers and observers the UN wants to put in the Middle East are all one sided in their support of the Palestinians. All attempts by Israel to respond to terrorism would be spun into aggressive anti-peace provocations.  This is the UN's New Year resolution!

Democrats, in the name of tolerance, plan to demonize conservative Christians as being like the Taliban, according to an article in Newsweek.
     Democrats "are planning a daring assault on the most critical turf in politics: the cultural mainstream," political correspondent Howard Fineman writes.
     "The theory goes like this. Our enemy in Afghanistan is religious extremism and intolerance. It's therefore more important than ever to honor the ideals of tolerance — religious, sexual, racial, reproductive — at home. The GOP is out of the mainstream, some Democrats will argue [this] year, because it's too dependent upon an intolerant 'religious right,'" Mr. Fineman said.
     "This is an incendiary battle plan — essentially comparing the GOP right with the Taliban — designed to draw an outraged response from the president. Then Democrats would have Bush just where they wanted him: in a firefight at home."
 

There are many professing (the tares) main streamers calling themselves conservative Christians who are truthfully self-demonized already with their phony Christianity. The Charismatics, the Southern Baptists, the tolerant Evangelicals are just some among those who will make this political ploy work well. Most of America sees through the phony TV mysticism promoted and tolerated by these so called conservatives, and so the politicians have  seized on a key vulnerable issue. The phony Elmer Gantry type of conservatism is ripe for political profiteering, and it seems that is exactly what is planned. Separation which was taught as intolerance is now coming back to haunt most of conservative Christianity. The truth will suffer at the hands of both the politicians and the phony, the tolerant, the self-proclaiming conservatives.

The truth is the God of the Bible is not tolerant at all. He is not tolerant with sin. He is not tolerant with un-Biblical or distorted-Biblical manmade religions. He is not tolerant with those who would usurp His promises, and distort His word!  God has been very tolerant with generations who have rejected and distorted His only begotten Son during this present age of grace and mercy called Christianity. The tolerance (longsuffering) ends at the rapture. The Christ rejecting and distorting world will soon find just how intolerant God will be! The next era is the Kingdom age with the 7 year intolerable tribulation as it's introduction. All religions, all kingdoms must step aside for Christ, or they will be exterminated. The "LORD of hosts" is not noted as a tolerant attribute when being manifested by the God of the Bible.

PROGRESS IN STOPPING WAQF "CRIMES" ON TEMPLE MOUNT

The non-partisan Committee Against the Destruction of Antiquities on the Temple Mount has used a caustic letter to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and indisputable photographic evidence to finally obtain a partial halt to unsupervised Islamic Waqf construction activities on the Mount.

Several prominent Israelis recently added their signatures to an angry letter to Sharon sent a few weeks ago expressing their growing frustration with a perceived lack of government policy in stopping the destruction of Temple Mount artifacts. The seven-page nonpartisan letter accuses the government and Israeli police of a nonchalant attitude toward work on the Temple Mount. Besides Muslims, only Israeli police have access to the Temple Mount area and they have downplayed or denied excavation work at the site.

"It is so sad to see these archaeological treasures going to waste, which are of such significance to all of us, because of the Palestinian desire to create facts on the ground," said noted dovish Israeli author A.B. Yehoshua after recently signing on to the letter. "It is clear that the government - out of fear - is hesitant to act or renew supervision at the site."

The Committee also confronted leading Israeli officials with a photo record of hundreds of pictures of Waqf activities taken secretly by individuals over the past years, some showing heavy machinery and stone-cutters on the Temple Mount.

As a result, the Sharon government has instructed Waqf officials to stop surfacing work being conducted on a small section on the northern side of the Temple Mount, police said on Tuesday. The Islamic trust has reportedly agreed to the request, which included a demand that paving tiles recently laid down also be removed.

The Committee - comprised of a broad array of archeologists, writers, jurists and politicians - has charged that police are so eager to maintain calm, they are not giving accurate reports of what is happening on the Mount. Police deny this allegation but admit that ancient water cisterns have been cleaned without any archaeological supervision.

Leading committee member Eilat Mazar of the Hebrew University voiced some satisfaction with the government's decision to stop the most recent work going on at the Temple Mount.

Meanwhile on the south end of the Temple Mount, an Israeli engineer is increasingly concerned with the huge "bulge" in the retaining wall of the Mount that he verified some six months ago. The retaining wall is protruding most likely because of hasty Waqf construction work in years past at the underground chamber known as Solomon's Stables, located just above the protrusion.

The engineering tests conducted a half year ago by the Antiquities Authority on the southern wall of the Temple Mount showed that sections of the wall are in the intermediate stages of collapse. But work has not yet begun to correct the situation, the engineer who conducted the tests said yesterday.

Engineer Ofer Cohen, who took part in the survey last summer, said that once a new set of tests is completed, it would take several months to rectify the situation. He could not say when the tests would be concluded.

Cohen said that Waqf officials have been provided with copies of the Antiquities Authority survey, via police intermediaries. "There is some sort of cooperation, albeit fuzzy and uncertain, between the authority and the Waqf on the subject, because there is no choice, since clearly nobody wants the wall to fall down," he said.

Already, archaeologists and engineers caution that a heavy snow or rain could bring about the collapse of part of the wall, which could cave in on Muslim worshipers at the Marwani mosque now located inside Solomon's Stables. "It certainly could endanger the worshipers, and the Waqf knows this," Cohen said.

Asked for comment, a spokesman for Internal Security Minister Uzi Landau has said that the issue will be part of an imminent cabinet discussion that Landau has asked for on the issue of the Temple Mount.

It is because the Bible says that Christ will establish His throne on that spot in Zion where Ezekiel's Temple is soon to be built. The Islamic, Arab, Palestinians know what the Bible says, but are intent through rage in stopping the establishment of this Jewish Christ's Kingdom. They imagine Allah and Mohamed of the Koran will be King of Palestine, Jerusalem, and the mosques on the Temple Mount. Secular Judaism does not want to give up it's power to this Christ! Legalistic religious Judaism is likewise unwilling to give up it's power to Christ. Apostate Christianity will never step aside when this Jewish Christ makes His demands. Islam sees the danger, and is in great rage! Soon, all the world will express the same rage in refusal to step aside, and worship this soon coming Jewish King and Kingdom. Most of Christianity will be left behind at the rapture to suffer seven years of tribulation, and then rejection from this soon coming Jewish Kingdom.

JERUSALEM (January 4) – Combined navy and air force units before dawn yesterday captured a freighter in the Red Sea carrying some 50 tons of offensive weapons bound for the Palestinian Authority, Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Shaul Mofaz announced an hour ago.

The ship, the Karin A, a 4,000-ton freighter owned by the PA and captained by a PA naval policeman, was boarded by naval commandos without firing a shot some 500 nautical miles from Israel in an operation code-named Noah’s Ark. The captured vessel is now en route to Eilat, Mofaz told reporters in Tel Aviv.

Among the many weapons on board, Mofaz listed long-range Katyusha rockets, LAW anti-tank missiles, Sagger anti-tank missiles, long-range mortars, mines, and much explosives.

The capture of the weapons prevented uncountable loss of life in Israel, Mofaz said, adding that the shipment was in clear violation of agreements with the PA and demonstrates that PA Chairman Yasser Arafat is not committed to fight terrorism. …..

President Moshe Katsav also praised the IDF on the success of the operation and was quoted by Israel Radio as saying the PA bears direct responsibility for all acts of terrorism during the past year. "The Palestinian leadership is bringing disaster upon the Palestinian people and seeks to push the entire region into a whirlpool of blood," Katsav said.

JERUSALEM –– Israeli commandos raided a vessel in the Red Sea, capturing 50 tons of Iranian-made weapons being smuggled in by members of Yasser Arafat's security forces, the army chief said Friday.

Arafat's Palestinian Authority denied any link to the shipment and dismissed the Israeli announcement as an attempt to discredit it at a time when U.S. envoy Anthony Zinni is in the region trying to arrange a truce.

The vessel, Karim A., was seized Thursday in international waters about 300 miles from Israel's Red Sea port Eilat in a joint operation by Israel's navy, air force and intelligence services, Lt. Gen. Shaul Mofaz told a news conference.

Mofaz said the ship carried 50 tons of mainly Iranian-manufactured arms and munitions, including long-range missiles, mortars, mines and advanced explosives – weapons the Palestinian Authority is not permitted to have under interim peace accords with Israel. No one was hurt in the raid, described by Mofaz as "daring and complex."

The army chief said the Palestinian Authority was deeply involved in the smuggling effort. He said the vessel had been bought by the authority and the captain and several crew were members of the Palestinian naval police. He did not say where the boat's port of departure had been.

Mofaz said the interception was proof that the Palestinian Authority was "infected by terrorism from head to toe."

Arafat adviser Nabil Abu Rdeneh dismissed the Israeli announcement as propaganda. "We have no idea about this ship," Abu Rdeneh said. "It is an Israeli attempt to destroy the Zinni mission."

China court indicts Hong Kong trader for imported Bibles

HONG KONG (Reuters) - A court in China's Fujian province has issued an "evil cult" indictment to a Hong Kong businessman for transporting Bibles into China and may hand him a death sentence, a Hong Kong rights group said on Saturday.

The court in the city of Fu Qing said Hong Kong trader Li Guangqiang had "used an evil cult to damage a law-based society", the Information Center for Human Rights and Democracy said in a statement.

Li Guangqiang in April and May 2000 took 33,000 bibles in two lots into China's Fujian Province to supply an underground Christian group called the Shouter's sect, the group said. He was arrested on his second trip.

Li, 38, is a long term resident of Hong Kong. He was responding to a request in October 2000 by a leader of the sect, Yu Zhudi, who travelled to Hong Kong and said the group needed bibles. On December 30, a Chinese court in Hubei's Jingmen city gave the founders of the underground South China Church, Gong Shengliang and Li Ying, a death sentence, calling their group an evil cult. Because Li's indictment mentioned an "evil cult" he may be sentenced to death, the rights group said. The group said it called on the Hong Kong government to support Li and demand that China specify the definition of "evil cult".

It said that although China had never made public how many such groups there were, the rights group estimated at least 16 Christian organisations had been listed that way.

(11:25) IDF chief: Samaria shootout foiled large terror attack
 

OC Judea and Samaria Brig.-Gen. Gershon Yitzhak said this morning's army operation in Til, near Nablus, thwarted a large terror attack on Israelis in Judea and Samaria.

The terrorists reportedly planned an attack similar to the attack against a busload of civilians near the Samaria community of Emmanuel on December 12.

Ten passengers were killed and nearly 30 wounded, several critically, in that attack.

In a related story, the government's decision to ease restrictions on the Palestinian population in the West Bank and Gaza angered leaders of the Council of Jewish Communities in Judea, Samaria, and Gaza Strip.

The group called on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon yesterday not to open the roads in Judea and Samaria to Palestinian traffic, noting such moves proved fatal in the past.

 

 

GERIZIM. The more southerly of the two mountains which overshadow the modern town of Nablus, 4 km NW of ancient Shechem, called Jebel eṭ-Ṭôr in Arabic. It has been called the mount of blessing, because here the blessings for obedience were pronounced at the solemn assembly of Israel described in Jos. 8:30–35 (*Ebal, Mount).

A ledge halfway to the top is popularly called ‘Jotham’s pulpit’, from which he once addressed the men of Shechem (Jdg. 9:7). On the summit are the bare ruins of a Christian church of the 5th century. Still earlier there stood there a temple of Jupiter, to which a staircase of 300 steps led up, as shown on ancient coins found in Nablus.

Gerizim remains the sacred mount of the Samaritans; for they have ‘worshipped on this mountain’ (Jn. 4:20) for countless generations, ascending it to keep the feasts of Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacles. According to Samaritan tradition, Gerizim is Mt Moriah (Gn. 22:2) and the place where God chose to place his name (Dt. 12:5). Accordingly it was here that the Samaritan temple was built with Persian authorization in the 4th century bc—the temple which was demolished by John Hyrcanus when he captured Shechem and the surrounding area c. 128 bc. Mount Gerizim has an ancient history going back to the days of Moses. It was a mount of great joy and blessing during the beginning days of Joshua when the Land was being possessed by the Jews. It's status changed during the divided Kingdom era when the potential blessings became a great curse.  The Northern Kingdom became generic and secularized.  King Ahab and his Zidionite wife Jezebel brought to Israel Baal worship to mingle with the God who Moses worshiped that brought Israel out of Egypt. Ahab and Jezebel built a false Temple on Mount Gerizim to usurp the only single Jewish Temple God recognized on Mount Moriah in Jerusalem, and where false un-Biblical worship and sacrifice was going on in Christ's day (the woman at the well). That same worship and sacrifice continues to this day by the remnants of the Samaritans on Mount Gerizim. Soon, the only Jewish Temple will be built again (Ezekiel's Temple) at Jerusalem on Mount Moriah. Soon, acceptable worship and sacrifice will again be given the God Moses worshiped. The God who intended Mount Gerizim to be a place of blessing, and Mount Moriah to be the place where the house of God would stand as an ensign to worship and sacrifice. Ezekiel's Temple will be the Third Jewish Temple to be built on Mount Moriah. It will be unique from the other Temples in that it alone will have a throne! A throne for the second coming of the Lord Jesus Christ to sit and rule as King of the Jews and King of Kings! The Jews are again possessing the same Land! The Palestinians hate the Jews, and are doing all they can to stop the Biblical future glory coming to Mount Moriah!

Deadly harbour invader puzzling marine scientists

A mystery marine animal that has invaded Whangamata Harbour could threaten New Zealand's aquaculture industry. The parasitic sponge-like animal, which kills all other sealife when it embeds itself on a surface, was found growing on the Whangamata wharf by harbourmaster Merv Martin late last year. He asked for help from marine scientist Dr Brian Coffey, who had not seen a species like it in New Zealand waters before. Samples have been sent to marine experts at Te Papa museum and the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (Niwa), who were also baffled. It is now being examined by Dr Pat Kott, an Australian-based specialist in the field. Since the animal's discovery, regional council Environment Waikato has commissioned Dr Coffey to study its "pest potential". He found it had not only covered the wharf piles from the seabed to the low-tide level, but was equally abundant throughout the harbour, growing on 112 of the 130 mooring posts and on several anchored boats that were not often used.

Dr Coffey told the Herald that the animal was a "double invader" and had the potential to be a pest to the aquaculture industry like the fruit fly was to horticulture. Destruction like that in the Whangamata Harbour could be disastrous if the animal took hold in a commercial mussel farm or something similar. During its first invasion, the animal settles on a spot and begins a life "filter-feeding" on plankton. But it will grow over and kill all existing sealife where it settles - from barnacles, limpets and seaweed to mussels, oysters and other shellfish. Crabs and flatworms, which actually graze on the animal, are the only parts of the Whangamata Harbour ecology not dominated by its arrival.

Once its first hosts are killed, the animal peels away, exposing what Dr Coffey describes as a "morose sandwich" of the vile-smelling dead sealife to which it attached itself. It then begins the "second invasion", fixing itself to the clean surface and developing into thick, matted flat sheets. The animal is a hermaphrodite and has the potential to reproduce asexually by "budding". It has been temporarily dubbed Didemnum sp.? until it can be properly identified.

Science reached the moon, and for the most part abandoned it as dead and uninteresting. Yet, planet earth provides new surprises in life forms never before discovered. Note, no reputable scientist is claiming evolution, but rather a new animal not before known to science!  The Bible describes life forms which confound science. Fire breathing dragons are a lot more believable then the current science of dinosaurs evolving into birds? We all saw the Disney version of "Dumbo the Flying Elephant." Now science wants us to believe Dumbo evolution? I know they are not trying to say those great dinosaurs we all think of first when dinosaur is mentioned are the source of the birds, but the science of evolution is truly dumb science when researched beyond the simplistic high school text books (that are used for college text also)! The behemoth and the leviathan are fearful beasts created by and described by God. An even more fearful beast is yet to be discovered! It will be the beast created for and soon to be released from the abyss during the 7 year tribulation era! Five months of absolute terror is soon coming to the rebels of planet earth!

Think of the scoffing should some missionary from the backwaters of South American jungles today claim he found an electric eel were they not known to present science? How could an eel generate enough electricity to kill a man? How could an eel generate power unknown to science before the days of Benjamin Franklin?

WASHINGTON, Jan. 7 —  Solar system creation theorists got more to chew on Monday when astronomers announced the discovery a huge object called a brown dwarf orbiting a star nearly as closely as Saturn is to our sun. Added to recent findings of extrasolar planetary systems that are markedly unlike the one around the Sun, the new finding makes our solar system look like an oddball in the galaxy.

BROWN DWARFS are large balls of gas, much more massive than Jupiter but not heavy enough to generate the thermonuclear fusion that powers a star. In recent years, these strange, in-between objects have been found in so many bizarre configurations that researchers are scrambling to figure out whether they are dealing with one class of object or several.
       Lone brown dwarfs have been spotted wandering through space fairly nearby. Others have been detected at vast distances from other stars, forming in nests. Brown dwarfs might even spawn their own planetary systems.
       And scientists have struggled and argued over the specific differences between brown dwarfs and planets, especially how and where they are born. Finding a brown dwarf in a region around a star thought to be reserved for planets will only exacerbate ongoing disagreements.

TOO CLOSE FOR COMFORT
       The brown dwarf is just 14 astronomical units away from the star (1 AU is the distance from Earth to the sun, about 93 million miles or 149 million kilometers). Saturn is 10 AU from the sun, and Uranus, the next planet out, is 19 AU. The object is between 55 and 78 times as massive as Jupiter, which is the largest planet in our solar system.
       Researchers say the configuration of a star and such a large, close companion can’t be explained by current theories of solar system formation.

 Stars are created by the gravitational collapse of a cloud of material. Planets, however, are thought to develop out of a flat, rotating disk of material left over from the creation of a star. Planet evolve when smaller rocks, like comets and asteroids, get together. Jupiter and the other gas giant planets probably have origins in such rocky cores, which grew large enough to attract a huge gas envelope, most astronomers believe.
       “This (brown dwarf) companion is probably too massive to have formed the way we believe that planets do,” Liu said.

 Many stars also are known to form as pairs, orbiting each other. There’s little question that the newly found object is a brown dwarf, said Alan Boss, a planet formation theorist at the Carnegie Institution. It probably formed out of the same cloud of material from which the star formed, he said.
       The presence of the brown dwarf might inhibit the formation of planets, said Boss, who was not involved in the research. Or, he said, it might actually foster the development of planets, according to competing theoretical models.
       Further study of this and similar systems will be needed to learn how they form, the researchers agreed.

 

I still remember the days when science taught us as fact that the chances of earth being struck by an asteroid was astronomical. The billions of years needed for evolution dictated such scientific fact.  Ignorance of the true facts bolstered the claim and belief. The ability to see the impact of a broken comet into Jupiter suddenly changed the time frame from astronomical to infrequent, and the death of the dinosaurs became explainable in millions rather then billions of years. I still remember the huge foot pads on the first moon landers expecting the dust of billions of years accumulation to be like landing on a great soft snow mass? I still remember watching one of those first astronauts hammer in hand taking the first core sample. He had a number of four foot poles ready to screw into each other as he pounded down for the sample. I still remember his first stroke, and amassment that he had reached bedrock just a few inches down with only the push of his hand. The facts when discovered keep pointing to a recent creation with purpose rather then billions of years of evolution by chance.

Today, Godless science is shaking in it's boots because of chance! This is the second close shave I remember in just the last few years. It is not billions; it is not even millions. The facts now that science has the means to measure are outright scary! Godless science has mocked, and distanced itself from the hand of God. I suspect with recent abilities to discover the truth they are wishing they were not so far away?

(12/15 World) He says the new world war is against it. He says Christians better be ready to become unpopular and will find themselves demonized as "intolerant" if our culture drifts toward a new syncretic (multi-faith) religion. Veith mentions the 7,000-member Agape International Spiritual Center near L.A. where "intermixed with the Christian praise songs are the 'oms' of Eastern meditation. Agape calls itself a church but makes no pretension of being Christian at all.

HYBELS INVITED MUSLIM LEADER TO PRESENT ISLAM PROPAGANDA TO HIS CHURCH—As we reported in the Nov. CC , Bill Hybels provided a forum in his Willow Creek megachurch near Chicago for a Muslim leader to deceive and spread lies about Islam. The 12/01 Foundation states: "For any Christian leader to share a platform with a Muslim and blatantly allow a false teacher to propagate error is unthinkable. Hybels has completely rejected…Paul's admonition for church leaders to protect the flock and beware of false teachers and false doctrine (Acts 20:28-31). The Calvary Contender does a good job as a watchman looking out over the wall for fundamentalism. The sad truth is that they did not do as well looking in from that same wall. They are Independent Baptist King James onlyists who oppose the Ruckmanits, but spread the same poison of intolerance for any who would use anything other then the King James Bible. I'm a Byzantine Text proponent opposed to the popular Westcott & Hort theory of textual critical methodology, and therefore hold to the King James Version as the best representative of that illusive absolutely perfect original Byzantine type text. I do not give the KJV mystical qualities, or divine preservation status. The King James Bible and it's underlying Greek Textus Receptus is a fallible work of man, and every qualified pastor and Bible teacher has the right to challenge the textual critical decisions made among the variants within the manuscripts which make up the Byzantine group as well as the English words used in translation. Every qualified pastor has the right to clarify for his flock the English words used in translating the original Greek. When a pastor may use another version of the Bible for clarifying  a passage, I find the intolerance of these KJV onlyists repulsive to the intellectual pursuit of seeking perfection in presenting Biblical truth. 

In the shortness of the hour with the soon consummation of the Church era, I would appeal to these good folks to re-examine their intolerance over the exclusive use of the KJV which spoils their fundamental watchmanship. Their passion would better be served in defending the Byzantine Text rather then a single fallible (KJV) version which only represents the Byzantine text!

(15:35) Islamic Jihad reneges on promise to suspend attacks

Islamic Jihad today announced it is reneging on its understanding with the Palestinian Authority not to carry out terrorist attacks against Israel.

In an announcement on the Qatar-based satellite television station Al-Jazeera, Islamic Jihad said its military wing will continue waging jihad against Israel, and called upon the PA to stop taking steps aimed at the organization.

Although Islamic Jihad did reach an understanding with the PA, it never officially announced a suspension of terrorist attacks against Israel, Israel Radio reported.

Just so you know the character of those Israel is forced to deal with. Their word is absolutely worthless. Negotiation is a fool's errand when dealing with this kind of character. It is one thing when your word is worthless to the one you hate the most, but here we see their word is worthless among their cohorts of their own faith as well. People like this fill our prisons around the world. They see the world only through selfish eyes, and disregard the rights of everyone who would keep them from reaching their own hedonistic desires. This is the character of the extortionists, the burglars, the kidnapers, the pedophiles, and all who use others for hedonistic gain. This character must be changed, or removed for the sake of society. It is those of this character that the Lord of Hosts will remove from the world society in the soon future. The soon coming Kingdom of heaven will not allow those of this character to be anything other then outcasts. The peace of 1000 years will smother the hedonistic. Muslims angry at mosque construction halt

NAZARETH (January 11) - Following the government's decision on Wednesday to stop the disputed construction of a mosque in Nazareth, a local Muslim leader vowed that his co-religionists would remain at the site until the structure was completed.

"We are going to stay there and pray there until the mosque is built," said Nazareth Deputy Mayor Salman Abu Ahmed, a leader of the Islamic Movement.

Abu Ahmed accused Christian leaders, including the pope and the top Roman Catholic clergyman in the Holy Land, Latin Patriarch Michel Sabbah, of exerting pressure on Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.

"We are very surprised that the pope stood against our right to build the mosque," Abu Ahmed said. "There are no problems between Christians and Muslims in Nazareth. It's only Christian leaders like the pope and Michel Sabbah who have a problem with the building of the mosque."

The government ruled this week that building must stop at the site of the proposed mosque, below the Basilica of the Annunciation, the largest church in the Middle East.
 

The Pope and Latin Patriarch Michel Sabbah have consistently sided with the Islamic, Arab, Palestinians in most disputes between them and the Jews. It is here where their own interests are at stake that they  part company with their Moslems brothers. These apostate Christians blamed Israel for their troubles with the Moslems because Israel gave permission under Islamic duress to the demand to build this new mosque. Now the apostates see what appreciation their Moslem brothers have for their efforts to stand united against the Jews. Absolutely none! And, I dare say if the situation were ever reversed the apostate Christians would show the same amount of appreciation to the Moslems. The Pope and Latin Patriarch hate the Jews because they want Rome to control the Holy Land, and receive the future glory promised to Israel, Jerusalem, and the Temple Mount. The Moslems for the same reason hate the Jews because they want control of Palestine, Jerusalem, and the Temple Mount. Understand, that were Israel not here to blame, these two groups would be at each others throats to the death over authority and sovereignty of what God has given back to Israel!

Soon, Jesus Christ will return as King of the Jews. He will finish reading the scripture He began to read in that Nazareth synagogue on that Sabbath almost 2000 years ago. He will declare the day of vengeance has now established His Authority and Sovereignty over the Temple Mount, Jerusalem, Israel, and the whole world!

NAZARETH MOSQUE DISPUTE FAR FROM OVER

Christian leaders are predictably pleased with the Israeli government's decision on Wednesday to stop the illegal construction of an intrusive mosque alongside the landmark Basilica of the Annunciation in Nazareth, but no one is declaring victory, as the radical Muslim elements behind the project still have a lot of fight left in them.

Israeli officials released a communiqué on Thursday clarifying the decision made by the inner security cabinet at mid-week, after initial press reports - based on comments by an unnamed official in the Office of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon - proved less than accurate. The updated release notes that the continuation of illegal construction work at the disputed site in Nazareth has been halted immediately, since it was being done without proper building permits in hand.

Meanwhile, a committee chaired by Housing Minister Natan Sharansky - who ironically also sat on the five-man cabinet committee under prime minister Ehud Barak that approved the building of the mosque - will "re-examine" that past decision "in view of all relevant circumstances and considerations." The committee will hear from Christians and Muslims involved in the controversy and submit its recommendations to the government within two weeks. ....

The site of the proposed mosque is a vacant lot of about 2,000 square meters, where a school once stood. When the municipality proposed a plaza to serve Christian pilgrims visiting the Basilica, however, the area was occupied by Muslim activists, who insisted the area had formerly housed a mosque and was the property of the Waqf.

In October 1999, the High Court of Justice ruled that the municipality should go ahead with its plans to build a plaza, although the court also ruled that a small part of the lot - some 135 square meters - indeed belonged to the Waqf. Even before the court had ruled, though, the Barak government had tabled its compromise proposal allowing the Waqf to build on one-third of the lot, provided they submit their plans to proper zoning boards, a provision breached by the recent hurried construction work.

Based on Waqf promotional posters of the mosque and other sources, there is a sense among Christians opposing the mosque that the plans have been held back intentionally because they would likely show a grand mosque with between four and ten minarets towering above the spire of the Basilica, which sits on much higher ground and is the largest church in the entire Middle East.

MUSLIM CONFERENCE PRAISES SUICIDE ATTACKS AGAINST ISRAELIS

Suicide attacks on Israelis are "the highest rank of martyrdom," Muslim clerics determined at a Beirut conference this week.

"Suicide operations carried out by the holy warriors against the Zionist enemy are legitimate and are based on God's book [the Koran] and the teachings of his prophet [Muhammad]. They constitute the highest rank of
martyrdom and lead to [winning] God's satisfaction and paradise," read a statement approved by 130 clerics and scholars from 30 nations on Thursday.

The clerics included representatives from Hizb'Allah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad, groups labeled as "terrorist" by the United States. The delegation also called for the elimination of the state of Israel.

Nazareth and the Temple Mount

(January 13) -After mounting protests from Christian groups in Israel and abroad, the cabinet last Wednesday courageously decided to halt construction of a controversial mosque in Nazareth adjoining the Basilica of the Annunciation. Though the issue is highly charged and delicate, and has stirred up passions among both Muslims and Christians, the cabinet is to be commended for not giving in to intimidation by the Muslim Wakf in formulating its decision. Hopefully, the government's decision on this issue will serve as a harbinger of a newfound determination to stop the Wakf from acting with impunity at other sensitive religious sites, in particular the Temple Mount. ....

In sad contrast to the Nazareth case, the government has yet to demonstrate a similar level of resoluteness when it comes to halting the illegal activity of the Wakf on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. Living in a profound state of denial, both the Jerusalem police and various government ministers have largely stood by passively as the Wakf destroys priceless historical and archeological treasures on the Mount. The Antiquities Authority has been barred from overseeing the work, which is being carried out in flagrant violation of the law. The conspiracy of silence among police and government officials regarding the systematic destruction of the Jewish people's holiest site is an affront not only to Israel's sovereignty, but to its religious and cultural heritage as well. In its decision regarding the mosque in Nazareth, the government demonstrated commendable sensitivity to Christian religious concerns. The time has now come for a similar level of care to be shown for Jews as well. The time has come to stop the Wakf's devastation of the Temple Mount.

JERUSALEM (January 13) - Iran's involvement in the Karine A arms smuggling affair is part of a larger effort to deter Israel from militarily trying to scuttle Teheran's nuclear program, according to a senior diplomatic official.

According to the official, Iran wants to use the Palestinians as proxies, much as it used Hizbullah as a proxy to wage war against Israel in Lebanon.

"Iran wants a base and stronghold in the PA to threaten Israel," the official said. "They feel the way to counter an Israeli threat to their nuclear program is through the use of terrorism. They feel this will deter any attack on Iran."

I could not agree more about the Temple Mount, but as I have previously commented that the value of the Temple Mount to secular Israel is no more then the political gains it can bring (or just boasted to bring) for the day. It even holds true for the city of Jerusalem. The Barak government was at the very threshold of giving Arafat a large part of the city on the lame gamble that it would change his attitude, or the attitude of Islam in general. Jerusalem and the Temple Mount are valued now as nothing more then a gambling chip to many Jews. A wager that all reality indicates is a fool's bet on impossible odds. A throw-away venture. Had Barak stayed in power the arms boat would only have delivered it's load of terror sooner, and probably without intervention. Winning part of Jerusalem would not have changed the hearts of the Palestinians. The actions taken by Arafat to smuggle those arms was not because the offer was not given! It was because Arafat wants all of Jerusalem including the Temple Mount, and all of Palestine as his maps show it (with no Israel anywhere). Not one single Palestinian schoolbook shows a map that has Israel on it.

The hearts of the Islamic Arabs are sadly fixed. God is about to change the hearts of the Jews. The passion for Jerusalem and the Temple Mount will take on a new importance. A return to the Bible will awake the reality of Jerusalem and the Temple Mount as the only place on earth where God authorized His house be built. Twice before, God allowed His house to be destroyed because of the sin of Israel. A Third house is soon to be built on that very same Mount. A new heart will bring the passion necessary to overcome all obstacles in accomplishing the task.
